ABOUT BRAILLO NORWAY A/S Braillo Norway A/S is one of the leading companies in the world in development, production and marketing of computerized technical aids for visually impaired; in particular production equipment for braille printing. The company was founded in January 1980 by personnel with background in mechanics, electronics and marketing. Braillo Norway developed together with SINTEF, Trondheim (a technical university) the world's first double sided (interpoint) braille printer, BRAILLO 270. The first Braillo 270 was delivered to Tambartun School for the Blind in 1980. The Braillo 270 has later been developed into Braillo 400 S, Braillo 400 SR and Braillo 440 SW (sideways), the speed was increased by 50% from 270 characters per second (cps) up to 400 cps (440 cps for Braillo 440 SW). The first Braillo 400 was sold to the Soviet Union in 1983. In 1988, it was decided to develop a smaller interpoint braille printer, Braillo 200. Even though most of the R&D programs have been financed by the company itself, valuable support have been received for various research and development projects from a FoU (Research and Development) program in NTNF (presently under SND) during the later years. As per today, Braillo Norway has sold products to more than 60 countries around the world. PRODUCTS Braillo Norway A/S produces a range of double sided braille printers. They are made for heavy production of braille. Our current range of printers consist of: Braillo 200 with a capasity of 200 char. per second. For tractor fed paper. Braillo 400 S with a capasity of 400 char. per second. For tractor fed paper. Braillo 400 SR with a capasity of 400 char. per second. Uses paper from roll. Braillo 440 SW with a capasity of 440 char. per second. Uses paper from roll. The Braillo 440 is our most recent model, and is based on the Braillo 400 S with well-proven technology. It produces braille in standard 2 pages per sheet format or the 4 pages per sheet format (A3) for i.e. magazine production. The prices range from NOK 290,000 to NOK 660,000.
